Lighthouse in Scranton, Inc. was founded in 1994 by Lindy Morelli. In her desire to respond to the needs of people suffering around her, she had a dream of opening a safe and loving home – a place that would invite people from all walks of life so that they could come for healing, hospitality, and for a warm welcome.

Lindy Morelli is a Catholic lay hermitess affiliated with the Melkite Eparke of Newton, Massachusetts. She lives a life of profound dedication, love, and prayer within the Catholic Carmelite spiritual tradition. Drawing inspiration from the teachings of the Catholic mystic Louisa Piccarreta, Servant of God, Lindy strives to embody the Divine Will. For over three decades, Lindy has tirelessly served the poor, imprisoned, and marginalized, offering hope and light amidst darkness. Her primary ministry now focuses on praying for all who endure profound sorrow and estrangement, welcoming anyone seeking hope to the Sacred Lighthouse.

As a lay hermitess, Lindy dedicates a significant portion of her day to solitary prayer, interceding for the needs of her global family. Her life exudes happiness and joy, and through all endeavors of the Sacred Lighthouse, which emanate from her profound interior prayer life, Lindy endeavors to impart joy and peace to all.

Located in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Lindy’s hermitage offers hospitality to those seeking companionship and community on Sundays and holidays. Through gestures such as sending greeting cards to hospital and prison inmates, as well as crafting handmade items for those in need, Lindy aims to spread joy and friendship to all.
Ministry to the Wrongly Convicted
For the past decade, Lindy has been a staunch advocate for the wrongly convicted in Pennsylvania and Michigan. Drawing from her own experiences within the justice system, Lindy offers hope and practical encouragement to the wrongfully incarcerated and their loved ones. Her book, “The Open Gate To Paradise,” serves as a testament to her journey and a source of inspiration for those facing similar challenges.
